Today is the day I've joined the gym!! Felt an absolute fool sitting on me scooter and joining the gym BUT the pool is just fantastic and it'll hopefully kick start the weight loss again. We are going tomorrow, so if I'm not on here for a few weeks, you'll know why! If there is sudden surge in the water level round your way, you'll know I've jumped in!!

I don't think so Rose. It took a lot of courage and I was actually scared when I got into the pool as to whether I would get out again. There are two steps from the changing room to the poolside (albeit shallow) and then another 6 into the pool itself. There is a great handrail right down into the water so that helped. It took me about ten minutes to stop shaking once I was in (wuss or what!) and then I started to relax. Getting out from the water was much more difficult but I rested for a minute on each step and eventually made it back to the changing room! If I can still stand RollEyes I'm going again on Friday!!

Well done Jean. You are very brave. Determination will get you anywhere you want to be and you certainly have that. I am so glad you enjoyed it after the nerves left. It's great that you want to go again. ThumpUp

Jean you are an inspiration.

Went back to dance classes this week after 6 weeks off doing no more exercise than lifting a cup of tea, didn't fancy going too tired, hurt like hell, but shouted at myself that if Fontayne can do ballet with broken bones I'm sure I can do a gentle dance class.

So yes, I scream at myself, if Jean can go swimming then you're a wuss if you don't go to dance classes, that got me told! So how many medals you going for next year or shall we start an NRAS synchronised swimming team?

That's a fantastic idea, Sara - Dor will be very cross she didn't think of it first!!

Good on you for even going back to the dance class, let alone doing the exercises! It's YOU who are the inspiration, especially as you have been having such a rotten time. Do you think we should start an exercise thread so we can all encourage eachother?
